Pierre Huyghe
Pierre Huyghe creates living, evolving exhibitions that function as speculative fictions, exploring complex co-dependencies between biological, technological, and inert life forms.
Pierre Huyghe approaches the exhibition not as a static display, but as a sentient milieu — an encounter that generates new possibilities of co-dependence between unfolding events and elements. His installations are conceived as dynamic entities whose time and space are integral to their manifestation, constantly learning, modifying, and evolving.
His works often present themselves as speculative fictions, blurring the lines between a wide range of intelligent life forms, from biological organisms to technological systems and tangible inert matter. These permeable environments are contingent and frequently indifferent to human witnesses, inviting a deeper consideration of non-human agency.
Born in Paris in 1962, Huyghe now lives and works in Santiago, Chile. His internationally recognized practice has earned him numerous accolades, including the Nasher Sculpture Prize and the Hugo Boss Prize, with major retrospectives and solo exhibitions worldwide.
