Fay Ku
Taiwan-born artist whose figurative drawings weave narrative, cultural history, and unconventional materials into quiet contemplation.
Fay Ku works from Brooklyn, making drawings that pull together figure, narrative, and the long threads of cultural memory. Her practice is built on paper — ink, embroidery, chine collé, weaving — materials and processes that cross the traditional boundaries of drawing and ask it to hold more.
The work has been exhibited at the Honolulu Museum of Art, New Britain Museum of American Art, the Snite Museum, and included in the Brooklyn Museum's 2024 Brooklyn Artists Exhibition. She's a recipient of a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant, a NYFA fellowship, and has held residencies at Tamarind Institute, Bemis Center, and The Hermitage, among others.
At MacDowell in 2026, she produced twelve large drawings of kneeling female figures — each a field of material exploration, each an exercise in the kind of isolation and quiet that first shaped her practice twenty years ago.
