Agnieszka Kurant

Agnieszka Kurant creates speculative thought experiments that delve into collective and nonhuman intelligences, the future of labor, and the exploitations inherent in digital capitalism. Her practice often involves collaborations with scientists and philosophers, setting up complex systems where diverse agents interact to produce hybrid forms.

These works oscillate between biological, digital, and geological realms, blurring the lines between natural and artificial, life and nonlife. Kurant’s installations and sculptures explore plural subjectivity, the evolution of living systems, and the profound transformations of the human in an increasingly automated and cybernetic world.

Born in Poland and based in New York, Kurant has realized significant commissions for institutions like the Guggenheim Museum and MIT List Visual Arts Center. Her work has been exhibited internationally at venues including MoMA, Centre Pompidou, and the Istanbul Biennial, earning her numerous awards for her innovative research-based art.
