Uri Aran

Uri Aran works from a studio in New York with film, sculpture, drawing, painting, and assemblage. The practice orbits language — its delays, its fractures, the way meaning slips when everything feels quoted. English is not his first language, and that gap has become the work's engine.

He constructs systems of signs that refuse to settle. Objects, images, and words arranged until they start to break down. The titles — "Tenants Like These," "Two Things About Suffering," "Eggs For Breakfast and Bird In A Blanket" — arrive like overheard fragments, part of a longer conversation happening just out of frame.

The work has appeared at the Whitney Biennial, the Venice Biennale, and institutions across Europe and the US. A mid-career retrospective opened at museo Madre in Naples in 2026, charting twenty years of a practice built on discord, delay, and the patient unraveling of sense.
