Mathilde Denize's expansive practice spans painting, installation, sculpture, performance, and video, all driven by a desire to forge meaning from a fragmented present. A collector of discarded objects, she often deconstructs her older paintings, reweaving them with found materials into new forms. This process allows new artworks to emerge from remnants, serving as a potent metaphor for the intricate nature of human existence.

Inspired by experimental artists like Carolee Schneemann, Denize integrates the body into her work as much as the canvas. Her distinctive garments, which frequently evoke a sexualized female form, function simultaneously as protective armor and strategic camouflage, blurring boundaries between identity and disguise.
