Painter and sculptor filtering British culture — public housing, fast food, the monarchy — through the vocabulary of modernist abstraction.

Keith Coventry maps the everyday onto the grid of twentieth-century idealism. His Estate Paintings reduce London's social housing projects to monochrome geometries; his Golden Arches series reimagines McDonald's as minimalist devotional forms. The work is both reverent and pointed.

He was a co-founder of City Racing, an artist-run space in Kennington that helped define British art in the 1990s, and was included in the Royal Academy's Sensation in 1997. In 2010, he won the John Moores Painting Prize.

The work moves between painting, sculpture, and installation — carved wood, beeswax, muslin, oil on linen under glass — and holds steady between critique and celebration.
