Darren Almond
Artist mapping time, duration, and memory through long-exposure moonlit landscapes and journeys to remote geographies.
Darren Almond has spent nearly three decades measuring time in forms the eye can barely hold — fifteen-minute exposures under full moons, clocks that refuse consensus, portraits of place made during extended travel to coastlines and mountains far from the grid.
The work is frequently enigmatic but arrives through rigorous process: remote locations, specific lunar phases, the mechanics of duration made visible. His Fullmoon series transforms night into day through patient exposure, while other projects trace personal and historical memory through family archive and cultural departure points.
He lives and works in London, exhibits internationally, and maintains a single through-line across the practice: the attempt to understand time despite its refusal to be understood.
