Cerith Wyn Evans

Cerith Wyn Evans, who began his career in experimental filmmaking, transitioned to visual and conceptual art in the 1990s, establishing a practice centered on challenging perception and reality. His work often creates immersive environments, drawing viewers into a dialogue with the space and its constructed elements.

Working across a diverse range of materials, Evans is particularly known for his use of neon, sound, photography, and glass. These varied media are employed to explore themes of communication, translation, and the ephemeral nature of meaning, often referencing literature, philosophy, and art history.

His influential installations and sculptures have been the subject of numerous monographic exhibitions at institutions worldwide, including Tate Britain, Pirelli Hangar Bicocca, and the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. Evans has also represented Wales at the Venice Biennale and his work is held in major international collections.
